Making the Invisible Visible
At SIROC, we look for companies that solve critical problems with high impact and relevance. This is exactly why we became investors in GATE Space. To support a team of world-class engineers building the future of orbital mobility and security.
Today, we are incredibly proud to see them play a key role in the BEACONSAT mission.
The Mission
Most of us rely on satellite navigation every day without thinking about it. Flights, shipping, emergency services, mobile networks, and even parts of our financial systems depend on satellite signals to determine their locations and when events occur.

What’s less well known is how vulnerable these signals are.
Satellite navigation can be disrupted or manipulated through techniques called jamming and spoofing. When that happens, systems may lose their position entirely or, worse, believe they are somewhere they are not. In aviation and critical infrastructure, this is not just inconvenient. It is dangerous.
BEACONSAT: In Simple Terms
BEACONSAT is a satellite designed to detect interference with navigation signals from space. Instead of guessing whether a disruption was accidental or deliberate, the satellite collects data on where and when interference happens.

This matters because many navigation disruptions are hard to trace from the ground. Without reliable data, it’s difficult for authorities to respond, improve safety, or even understand the scale of the issue. By observing interference from orbit, BEACONSAT helps turn something invisible into something measurable, enabling better decision-making.
The satellite is scheduled to launch in 2027 and is Austria’s largest domestically developed satellite to date, as well as the country’s first satellite commissioned by the Ministry of Defense.

GATE Space
GATE Space is an Austrian space company founded by engineers from the Technical University of Vienna. Responsible for the overall mission and for building key parts of the satellite, including its propulsion and core structure.

What stands out is not just the project's ambition, but also the execution behind it. The satellite’s systems have been extensively tested on the ground to ensure reliability once in orbit, where repairs are not an option. BEACONSAT is also supported at a European level through the European Space Agency, reflecting a broader effort to strengthen independent space capabilities in Europe.
A Shared Vision on Technology
We invest in foundations, not hype. GATE Space reflects the no-BS innovation we strive for at SIROC. Having helped 140+ companies, we know what it takes to win in competitive markets: speed, quality, and relentless execution.

We believe strong technology companies are built on:
- Engineering Excellence.
- Fast Execution.
- Zero Compromise.
Our investment in GATE Space is a clear statement of that belief.
